Great-granddaughter of 1935 butchers’ founders opens her own shop
By Surrey Hills Enterprises ·

Alanah Wyatt – daughter of Porky Whites Managing Director Francesca Wyatt – is set to open her first butchers’ shop and continue the White family’s 90-year butchery journey in Wokingham. Named A&G Whites Butchers, the brand-new shop will see Alanah take over the existing butcher concession at the Wokingham branch of Squire’s Garden Centre.
Alanah represents the fourth generation of Whites to enter the butchery profession, following her great grandfather and uncle Harry and Jim White (the originators of Porky Whites), her grandfather the late Graham White and her mother Francesca Wyatt.
Alanah Wyatt, Owner of A&G Whites Butchers, said: “I want to dedicate this to my grandfather, whose love for the trade continues to inspire me and my family every day and I am honoured to continue his legacy with the opening of A&G Whites Butchers.”
Fran Wyatt, Managing Director of Porky Whites, added: “From the moment Alanah decided that she wanted to be a butcher, I knew sooner or later she would own her own butchery business. A&G Whites Butchers is the culmination of her hard work and determination to bring this opportunity to life. As a butcher myself, I can say hand on heart that her skills and craftsmanship are already exceptional, and I know this new collaboration with Squire’s is just the start for Alanah.”
Alanah is set to complete her Level 2 Butchery Apprenticeship from Plumpton College and has honed her craft alongside a number of established butchery businesses. Whilst at Plumpton she received the prestigious Plumpton Values Award, in recognition of students who embody resilience and truly go above and beyond.
Peter Allen, Chairman of Aubrey Allen and Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, said: “Butchers have long been at the heart of the community, and I’m thrilled to see a new generation embracing this craft. Alanah’s hard work and determination is an example to our industry, and I want to take a moment to wish her every success for A&G Whites Butchers now and in the future.”
The new counter follows a collaboration between Porky Whites and Squire’s Garden Centre, which saw Porky Whites become an approved sausage and formed meats supplier to all 17 of their café bar restaurants. Opening from Tuesday 15 September 2026, the counter will sell loose meat, hand-trimmed bespoke butchery and pre-packed options including the Porky Whites retail range.
A&G Whites Butchers will officially open on Saturday 19 September, 9am–6pm, with visitors met by Alanah and members of the White family, able to tour the new counter and raise a glass to celebrate the opening.
