Surrey Hills Enterprises (SHE) has been named a finalist in the Community Hero Award at the Surrey Business Awards 2026, sponsored by The Jockey Club.

The award recognises organisations that make a real and lasting difference to the communities around them. SHE is shortlisted alongside Green Hub Project for Teens, Guildford Shakespeare Company, Surrey Choices, The Lucy Rayner Foundation and Wates Group.

SHE is a membership organisation that supports local businesses, enterprises and charities across the Surrey Hills, helping them connect, promote what they do and thrive in a landscape where reaching customers is not always easy.

Alongside its work with members, SHE organises major public fairs across the Surrey Hills. These events bring thousands of visitors to the area, put local makers, producers and craftspeople in front of new audiences, and keep spending in the local economy. For visitors, they offer a chance to meet the people behind the products, hear their stories and discover what makes the Surrey Hills distinctive.

The nomination is a recognition of the people behind it. SHE’s members are the shops, producers, venues, makers and service providers who give the Surrey Hills its character, and who keep money, jobs and skills in the local community.

Maggie Howell, CEO of Surrey Hills Enterprises, said:

“Being a finalist in a community category means a great deal to us, because community is what we’re here for. Our members are the heart of the Surrey Hills, and this shortlisting belongs to every one of them. We’re proud to stand alongside such an inspiring group of finalists, and grateful to the Surrey Business Awards and The Jockey Club for shining a light on the role organisations like ours play in local life.”

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 19 November at G Live in Guildford. Tickets can be purchased online.
